Another Day at Assabet

 Did a short bike ride to Assabet (from the mill building) this morning and had a pretty good birding outing.

Lots of cedar waxwings again, but also a very good view of a red-eyed vireo.   

And I saw one or maybe more blue-winged warblers

And a couple of orioles.

Cedar Waxwings

 Lots of cedar waxwings over the last couple of weeks, both at Assabet and the Ice House Pond.  They are behaving like flycatchers, hovering about catching insects.

Also have been seeing a lot of blue gray gnatcatchers.  

Molting Scarlet Tanager

 Kind of quiet today, but I did have one interesting find.  After a little research, I decided it was a molting scarlet tanager.

The picture above doesn't quite capture what I saw.  The red and yellow were more intertwined.  Most of the pictures online, though, make the molting tanager look kind of ill.
